We need you.

One of the biggest problems in America and Iowa today is youth disengagement and unemployment. Consider this:

  • 6.7 million American youth are not in school and not working.
  • Youth unemployment across the country is 17.1 percent. It's still double digit in Central Iowa, a region with one of the lowest unemployment rates in America. In Iowa as a whole, it's 16.8% in 2012
  • High school drop outs in Urban and Rural areas are occurring in record numbers. In Des Moines alone, over 600 young people become disconnected from their education path annually.
  • Fewer Iowans, including Iowa youth, are qualified for the middle and high skilled jobs in demand today.

Let's solve this problem together. It's time.

The Opportunity in Iowa Program will include breakout panels on community engagement, inventory of current resources and tools, policy/advocacy discussion, brainstorm on new initiatives and coordination. Lunch and Refreshments will be included.

Registration is closed.
